What do you have to do?

1. First you have to write the book. You produce a manuscript on a word processor, using Microsoft Word or some other word processor. Once you have produced something with which you are happy, get someone else to read it, preferably not someone in your family or whom you are close to. You want them to give you an objective assessment of your work. The more opinions you get the better.
   
   
2. Take on board any suggestions for changes you think would benefit the work to produce your final version. Then get it thoroughly proof-read for spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax. Do not proof read your own work. You will tend to skim through it and miss the mistakes. You can get your work proof-read professionally, or we can do it for you, but there will obviously be a cost to this.
   
   
3. You then Log In to the Racing House site by entering your password in the box in the right hand column of our Home page. If you you do not have an account, click on Set up Account just below the password box. You will be asked to enter your contact details and choose a password.
   
   
4. Once logged in you then go to the page where you can enter brief details of your book and send us the manuscript file. If you have published books previously with Racing House you can also view details of those once you have logged in.
   
   
5. We then check that the file meets our requirements. These are:
   1. It meets minimum standards of spelling, punctuation and syntax. We are not talking about the odd spelling or grammatical mistake, but It is not in the interest of either author or publisher to publish shoddy work.
   2. It does not contravene laws on libel, racial incitement or obscenity.
   3. If it is a PDF, that the file meets the technical requirements set out on this site. (See How to Start ->PDF file specifications).
   
   
   
6. We will then confirm that we can publish your book and give you a firm quote.
   
   
7. You then download the Publishing Agreement, print and sign two copies and return them to Racing House Press, 20 Cambridge Drive, London SE12 8AJ, UK. If you wish to pay by cheque, enclose a cheque made payable to Racing House Press for the amount quoted. For credit card payment, you need to wait until we have set up the title on our system. Log In again and you will see it listed. Click on the end column that says Pay Now and you will be taken to a secure site where you can enter your credit card details.
   
   
8. Once your payment has been accepted we start to produce your book.
